Loneliness

This mixed-media chalk, charcoal and pencil portrait is drawn onto a large canvas which I built in my first year of uni during a Fine-Art workshop. The drawing was a response to my trip to the Liverpool Biennial in 2010, influenced by The Mending Project installation, the theme being loneliness when moving to a new city, being surrounded by people but still feeling isolated and alone. 

Rapunzel

Final piece for my Fine Art drawing workshop. Mixed media drawing created using charcoal, chalk, watercolour, tea-staining, thread and lace.

Let down your hair

Continuing to develop my Rapunzel character I experimented with the form of her flowing thick cascading locks, enveloping the figure with her intricate hair to create a provocative, sensual image.

Lace Windows

Feedback from my stab-in-the-back drawing inspired me to create a Rapunzel character. I experimented with lace to form a decorative window frame, using tea-staining to create an aged appearance symbolising the passing of time as she awaits rescue within her tower prison. 

Stab in the back

This pastel drawing was inspired by the work of Rachel Goodyear and Audrey Kawasaki. The thorn straps of the dress give this evocative drawing a sinister twist. This portrait was created for a Fine Art workshop I did during my first year of Uni. 

My sister and I

I created this pastel drawing of my sister Claire and myself for my a-level final piece in 2010. I think my drawing has improved quite a bit since then, but wanted to post this picture because my sister is my inspiration for studying illustration at uni. Love you and miss you Claire
